BackSliders – Series Synopsis
Never in a million years did Sybil Holmes imagine her life would come to this. As the reluctant First Lady of Jubilee Baptist Church, Sybil is struggling to live up to a role she never wanted. Trapped in an unfulfilling marriage to Pastor Holmes and quietly suffocating under the weight of other people’s expectations, Sybil finds her only escape in her true passion—writing… and in the arms of someone who isn’t her husband.
But secrets don’t stay hidden forever. Sybil’s teenage daughter, Amber, suspects her mother’s infidelity—and resents her deeply for it. In response, Amber turns rebellious, diving into a dangerous lifestyle that even her parents know nothing about.
Across town, Blaise appears to have it all—beauty, power, and success. But behind her sharp tongue and designer wardrobe lies a woman battling demons that threaten to make her into everything she despises.
And then there’s Joy—kind-hearted, brilliant, and endlessly overlooked. Everyone adores her, but no one takes her seriously. Constantly walked over and ignored, Joy must decide if being nice is worth the cost of her voice.
Back Sliders is a raw, emotionally charged drama that peels back the polished layers of three very different women connected by faith, secrets, and the haunting truth that sometimes, the people who fall the hardest are the ones you least expect.
Characters We Are Casting For:
Charles, (character's age is late 20s): An ordained reverend with charm and ambition. Charles loves Joy, but fear of commitment and unresolved sins from his past—namely, a lingering connection to Sybil—keep him stuck. He's a man torn between faith, desire, and the pressure to lead both a church and a relationship he's not fully ready for.
Ron, (character's age late 20s early 30s): Handsome, funny, and full of charm, Ron is the lovable guy no one takes seriously. A product of the foster care system, he masks his emotional wounds with humor. He’s a wanderer with no real roots, drawn to much older women who provide the affection and stability he’s never had. Beneath the jokes is a man quietly chasing a life he’s not sure he deserves.
Blaise - Female, (character's age is early to mid-30s): Striking, successful, and unapologetically bold, Blaise is a no-nonsense powerhouse who refuses to be upstaged. She’s highly educated, highly paid, and highly desired—but beneath her polished exterior lies a war-torn mind. While men flock to her and success seems effortless, Blaise secretly battles internal demons and a fear that she’s becoming the very kind of woman she despises. Her faith is her anchor… but one more blow could break her.
Amber - Female, (character's age, an adult who appears 15–17): Smart, bold, and emotionally conflicted, Amber is the teenage daughter of Sybil and Pastor Holmes. Suspicious of her mother’s infidelity and hurt by the dysfunction in her home, she’s grown resentful and rebellious. While she craves attention and truth, she hides her own dangerous secrets, living a life her parents know nothing about. Amber is the storm brewing in the background... until she can't be ignored.
Quinn - Male or Female, (character's age, late 20s to early 30s): Poised, polished, and loyal, Quinn is Sybil’s trusted friend and publishing rep. She’s sharp, professional, and believes deeply in Sybil’s talent, often pushing her to see her worth when no one else does. Quinn is a voice of encouragement and wisdom, but she also has her own quiet ambitions. She’s the kind of woman who gets things done—and expects results.
Dorian Blake – Male, (character age late 30s - Supporting Role): A no-nonsense lawyer with deep ties to Blaise, quick wit, and legal muscle.
Keisha – Female, (early 20s - Featured/Minor Supporting Role): A no-nonsense, sharp-tongued waitress with a lot of personality and charm. Brief but impactful appearance.
